FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can beef tallow be used for?

Tallow is a cooking fat and can be used as a substitute to any other oil or fat you would usually cook with. It’s commonly used for a range of cooking applications such as frying, roasting and sauteing. Tallow is nutrient-dense and is often used as an alternative to inflammatory seed oils. Tallow imparts great flavour to dishes and with a high smoke point it’s perfect for home cooking.

Our tallow is pure but we do include an antioxidant to keep it fresher for longer, preventing oxidation and the tallow from going rancid. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. It can be kept at room temperature for up to 12months and even longer if stored in the fridge.

Tallow has a subtle beef taste and imparts an umami and savoury flavour to dishes. It adds a lovely depth of flavour to vegetables and meats especially. The texture depends on temperature, much like coconut oil. In cold temperatures it is solid, when warm it’s creamy and butter-like. When heated it becomes liquid and a perfect fat for all your cooking needs.

Yes. The beef fat we source and render is from a HMC-certified abattoir.

Our tallow is pure and not mixed with any other oils or fats. We do include a touch of Rosemary Extract as a preservative and to prevent microbial growth, as well as an antioxidant to improve the stability and shelf life of our tallow.

HOW TO USE BEEF TALLOW

With a high smoke point (215c), you can use beef tallow for roasting, frying or baking and it has a rich buttery taste. It’s also great in various culinary applications like grilling steak, cooking eggs, or stir-frying veggies. Tallow can even be used in your homemade soaps, products, and candles due to its unique texture and nourishing properties.

BENEFITS OF TALLOW

Tallow is a mix of good fats: saturated and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats (about 50%). These fats are good for your heart and don’t raise LDL cholesterol. Plus, tallow contains vitamins A, D, E, and K, great for eyes, skin, bones, and immunity. It also contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), linked to muscle maintenance, fat loss, and heart health. Opt for quality Grass Fed tallow for 300-500% more CLA.
